Over the past 5 years, Tridel has helped more than 1,000 students in Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) revitalization communities gear up for back to school. This year was our best year ever with employees raising funds for backpacks and school supplies to support 750 students across multiple Toronto Community Housing communities including Alexandra Park, Leslie Nymark, Regent Park and Swansea Mews.
Each year, the Tridel Take Action team drums up new and creative ways to get their employees excited about supporting youth as they start a new school year. From inter-departmental challenges and games, volunteers work across the Company to engage employees at Head Office and our construction sites to fundraise and to organize contributions of school supplies and backpacks. The campaign culminates in a day where volunteers – some from Tridel, TCHC and the community – assemble the backpacks and supplies.
This year, we delivered backpacks door-to-door in Alexandra Park and provided backpacks to school-going kids in Regent Park. The Take Action Team loved seeing the community members and hearing their stories and excitement about the upcoming school year.
