About the Job

The Sanitation Technician travels to our high-profile commercial and residential client locations across the GTA to perform, preventative maintenance, and general repairs to waste equipment such as compactors, balers, and garbage chute systems.

 

You will communicate directly with client users, operators, and employees to deliver a successful service visit. While most of your work will be independently performed after a suitable training period, you will be collaborating with other technicians and support staff to deliver the best possible solution for our clients.

Responsibilities

·      Must adhere to Metro Compactor Service Inc safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act

·      Start the day by reviewing your service schedule, ensuring that you're equipped with all the necessary parts and tools in your company vehicle.

·      Drive to customers at commercial or residential job sites.

·      Cleaning garbage chutes, linen chutes, and waste containers.

·      Daily use of standard hand-tools and pressure washing equipment.

·      Help with set up and tear down of light equipment at job sites.

·      Conducting inspections on recycling equipment such as compactors and garbage chutes, and inspections and repairs on waste containers.

·      Completing quoted service orders and service calls as needed.

·      Emergency after hour service, as needed.

·      Always providing exceptional customer service and communicating with management and maintenance staff at each location.

·      Daily circle checks of work vehicles and maintaining material level of work vehicles.

·      Address urgent calls, demonstrating your ability to manage unforeseen challenges and ensuring minimal downtime for clients.

·      Leave each job site clean and free of debris to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

·      Other duties as assigned.


What you Bring to the Table

·      Valid “G” Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

·      Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

·      Have the ability to work independently and follow procedures.

·      WHMIS training is considered an asset.

·      Previous mechanical and hydraulics experience is desirable. 

·      Self-motivated and a team player.

·      Flexibility is also required as this position occasionally requires travel, early starts, late finishes and, on rare occasions, weekend work.

 

Work Environment

·      Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, a technician would be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.

·      Must be able to drive safely for periods of up to 2 to 3 hours at a time to reach job destinations. Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.

·      Note on Working Conditions: Our technicians often operate in environments where waste is present. As such, it's crucial to be comfortable working near garbage and to always prioritize safety and cleanliness. Protective gear and adherence to health and safety guidelines are essential.
